Mataaho and his wife lived together. His wife was a good wife. She cooked meals and kept him warm. One night Mataaho did not came back. So she packed her bags. When he came back there was no wife. He felt alone, hungry and cold. So the goddess Mahuika made fires around him while he slept. This made him sleep warm. Today you can see cold fires around Mt Eden.
