The legend of Maungawhau

A very long time ago this is the legend of Maungawhau that is Mt. Eden in Auckland New Zealand. This legend is more then 150,000 years ago. This legend is about Mataaho a man that lived up on the top of Maungawhau then he got married. Mataaho had a wife and his wife kept him warm and cooked Mataaho food.

One day Mataaho went out and was gone for so long that his wife was furious. So she packed her bags and left their place. Then another night Mataaho came back home. Mataaho saw that his wife was gone. Mataaho felt sad, hungry and cold then Mahuika the goddess of fire, who had ten little fire in her nails, noticed that Mataaho was cold. So Mahuika found Mataaho and gave him some little fires. Then Mataaho slept in his bed and Mataaho was very warm and that was the end of the legend of Maungawhau Mt. Eden.

You should go and check out Mt. Eden. Now it is a volcano that has erupted a long time ago and around it are what is left of the little fires that Mahuika made.
